Currency & Finance

Currency converters, crypto trackers, and financial tools — 26 free tools available. No signup required.

Mortgages, loans, savings, salary, tax, property and crypto: the calculations that decide what something actually costs over its full term rather than what the monthly figure suggests.

The most useful thing most of these do is separate a headline number from a total. A monthly payment is a number a lender chooses to show you; the interest you pay across the whole term is the number that tells you what the borrowing cost. The amortization schedule generator prints that month by month.

Every tool here runs locally in your browser. Nothing about your salary, balance, or loan is transmitted or stored. Currency and crypto figures come from public APIs, and where a tool shows a stored figure instead of a live one it says so on the page.

The monthly payment is the least informative number

Lengthening a loan term reduces the monthly payment and increases the total cost, often dramatically, which is why term is the easiest lever to present as a saving. A longer mortgage at the same rate lowers what leaves your account each month while raising what you pay in total by a large multiple of that reduction. Any comparison between two borrowing options has to be made on total interest over the term, plus fees, rather than on the monthly figure, and the amortization schedule is the clearest way to see it, because it shows how much of each early payment is interest rather than principal.

Compounding frequency is not a detail

Interest quoted at the same nominal rate produces different returns depending on how often it compounds — daily, monthly, quarterly or annually all give different answers, and the gap widens with time and with the rate. This is what the distinction between a nominal rate and an effective annual rate exists to capture. Comparing two savings products or two loans on their headline rate alone is comparing numbers that are not measuring the same thing, and the effective rate is the one that makes them comparable.

Marginal rate is not your tax rate

Progressive tax systems apply each rate only to the income falling inside that band, so entering a higher band never reduces your take-home pay, despite a persistent and expensive misconception. Someone in a 40% band does not pay 40% of their income; they pay 40% of the portion above the threshold, and less on everything below it. The number worth knowing is the effective rate: total tax divided by total income, which is always lower than the marginal rate. Our salary and tax calculators report both.

On the crypto tools specifically

Crypto pricing moves constantly and any figure on a static page is stale the moment it is written. The tools in this section that depend on live pricing fetch it at the moment you load them and display when they last succeeded. When a price feed is unreachable they fall back to a stored snapshot and label it as stored rather than presenting it as current. That is a deliberate choice, because a stale number shown as live is worse than no number at all.

Frequently asked questions

Are the currency and crypto rates live?

They are fetched from public APIs when you load the tool, and the page shows when the data was last updated. If a feed is unreachable the tool says so and labels any stored figure as stored rather than current.

Is my financial information stored?

No. Every calculation happens in your browser. Salary, balances, loan amounts and everything else you type stay on your device and are never sent to us.

Is this financial advice?

No. These are calculators that apply a stated formula to numbers you provide. They do not know your circumstances and nothing here is a recommendation. For decisions that matter, speak to a qualified adviser.

Which tax rules do the tax calculators use?

Each tax tool states on its own page which jurisdiction and which tax year its rates come from, and cites the source. Rates change, so check the date shown before relying on a figure.

Why does my bank quote a different mortgage payment?

Lenders add fees, insurance, and sometimes a different day-count or rounding convention. Our figure is the pure principal-and-interest payment from the standard amortization formula, which is the right basis for comparing offers but not the full amount you will be billed.
